Description:

The Americano is an Italian aperitif and an official International Bartenders Association cocktail in the Unforgettables category. Its predecessor is often considered the Milano-Torino, named after the cities associated with Campari and sweet vermouth. Soda water makes the drink lighter and highlights its aperitif character. Bitter-sweet herbal notes dominate the flavor, so the Americano is often seen as a softer, longer alternative to the Negroni. The cocktail also has a place in literary culture: it is the drink James Bond orders in Ian Fleming's Casino Royale.
