A jigger is a measuring tool used to dose cocktail ingredients accurately. It usually has two cups of different sizes joined in an hourglass shape, such as 25/50 ml, 30/60 ml, or 20/40 ml. The smaller side is useful for strong or intense ingredients, while the larger side suits base spirits, juices, and bigger recipe portions. Pour to the rim or to an internal mark if the jigger has one, ideally holding it over the shaker or mixing glass. Precise measurement keeps a cocktail balanced and repeatable: even a small change in syrup, citrus, or base spirit can noticeably change the drink.
