Difford’s Guide’s Mock Margarita aims to keep the citrus-and-salt character of a Margarita without tequila or orange liqueur. Lime, lemon, agave, salt, and ginger beer provide the recognizable structure. Difford’s Guide notes that the recipe was adapted from a drink created in 2010 by Cheri Loughlin, known as The Intoxicologist. It is not a replacement for a classic Margarita, but a separate alcohol-free variation that borrows familiar serving cues and balance. The salt rim is more than decoration here: it helps connect acidity and sweetness and makes the drink feel closer to the Margarita template.
