Description:

The Japanese Slipper is a modern Australian cocktail with a well-documented origin: Difford's Guide credits its creation to Jean-Paul Bourguignon at Mietta's restaurant in Melbourne in 1984. The name points not to Japanese bar tradition, but to Midori liqueur: the Japanese word means green. The cocktail is sweet, melon-led, and citrusy, so the lemon acidity is especially important: it keeps the drink from becoming overly candy-like and makes the bright color more than just a visual feature.
