Mixing Glass

Mixing Glass

Description:

A mixing glass is a heavy glass or metal vessel used to prepare cocktails by stirring with ice. It is used for drinks made from ingredients that combine easily: spirits, vermouth, liqueurs, and bitters. This method is chosen when the drink should stay clear, dense, and silky, without foam or air bubbles. The ingredients are stirred with a bar spoon until properly chilled and diluted, then strained into a glass. If a recipe contains juice, cream, egg, or thick puree, a shaker is usually the better tool. Capacity usually starts around 450 ml, enough for one or two servings.
