A julep cup is a metal cup for the Mint Julep and other drinks served with crushed ice. It is usually made from silver-colored metal, stainless steel, or silver-plated materials. The outside quickly frosts when filled with crushed ice, helping the drink stay cold longer. Mint garnishes and aromatic cocktails served with a straw look especially good in this vessel.
